Our portal
Our time is scarred by a remarkable crisis. It is the same crisis of our civilization, the crisis of all foundations, those same foundations which give humanity a sense and keep the life away from the nothingness... We must confess that this crisis has a distinctive mark: a departure from the Christian memory. A more or less conscious rejection, better still an unconscious negation of that memory. Memory is not just a remembrance, rather it is a continuation of life, it is the acknowledgment of a Presence. Without this Memory there would not be an authentic life, a life authentically human. Without this Presence there would be no pleasure of living intensely. The only thing that would replace it would be the authority and the falsehood. The absence of that Memory is a crime because from this evil stems any kind of violence and any kind of utopia. This Presence - that becomes memory - is the only and real tenderness that our history has benefited from. This tenderness strikes at the core of the effort poured to sustain StoriaLibera. Undoubtedly, a small project but certainly part of a great life and a great story. The image that best represents what is done through Storialibera is the image of the monastery. "Nothing is more fascinating" than the monastery walls where one lives like embraced by that Memory and there it passes on its splendor through "the beauty of its architecture". Storialibera is a small community who, like monks in a monastery, are within that Memory, within a life that almost unconsciously shapes them and becomes like the ingredient of their humanity. This "ingredient" constitutes "the beauty of its architecture", that is, the empirical verification of the Christian Fact. Even in the case that this Memory would appear "subtle" to the majority, it will never cease to be attractive to those whom experience belonging to it.
StoriaLibera.it is like a monastery...
Again, to describe what Storialibera is, we need to recall what a monastery used to be. For it was a place where the love was expressed by the amazement for the present and a sheer care for the future. Present and future filled with a vital “sap” coming from a continuously recall of that Memory, which is like the fertilization of our life. In the monastery the library and the «scriptorium» were the places where monks labouredly passed on the knowledge, the tradition and therefore the civilization. Storialibera is full of this silent, to some extent unconscious and somewhat anonymous charity towards our times. The preciousness of our work is deep-rooted in that Life which persists to be the irreplaceable Presence that we all need. |
