12th - 13th century: The Emperors of the Swabian house and the age of Innocence III
Papacy and Empire, even if in opposition, reach the peak and then the beginning of the decline together. This is the age of Innocence III (1198-1216) and of the Swabian Emperors: Frederick I Barbarossa (1152-1190), Henrich VI (1190-1197) and Frederick II (1216-1250).
