"«Classico» - scrisse Goethe - è colui che ha la sensazione di vivere sotto lo stesso cielo di Omero e concepisce quindi la vita come continuità. «Romantico» è invece chi avverte il presente completamente diverso dal passato, mentre il futuro gli si presenta misterioso e indecifrabile: infranto il senso della continuità, la vita gli appare perciò come un continuo divenire, sempre nuova, mutabile, incerta. Ne deriva così che classicismo significa: essere, sintesi, equilibrio, ottimismo; e romanticismo, invece: divenire, antitesi, impeto, pessimismo" (Orazio Gnerre - Gianandrea de Antonellis).

"«Classical» - wrote Goethe- is who has the sensation to live under the same sky of Homer and understand the life as a continuance. «Romantic» instead is who is conscious of the present as completely different from the past, whilst the future seems to be mysterious and indecipherable: broken the continuity sense, life appears as a continuous becoming, always new, changeable, uncertain.
