Islam and terrorism: Norman Podhoretz George W. Bush has chosen the only surefire way to defend the West society after the September 11, 2001 attacks. There is only one alternative: pretend to not be at war, but this won't avoid the war. Nor will it soften the war. On the contrary, it will let terrorism expand violently and prevent us from battening down the hatches. Those who chose to let U.S. go ahead alone, have also chosen to shoulder a huge responsibility.
